Fencing is a graceful and high competitive sport originating in ancient Europe. It was one of the only ten events to be played in the fist Olympic Games. Professor Pao-Chung Lin, the HIT president, was elected as the chairman of the University Fencing Association in 2000. Under his leadership, fencing became a very famous and favorable sport in university campus. Fencing has been one of events in the annual University Games.

Accumulation: 14 gold medals, 21 silver medals, and 17 bronze medals.
National Ranking Fencing Competitions 2004: 1st place (Ms. Ho, Jia-Rong) in the Ladies’ Epee Individual Event.
Asian Youth & Cadet Fencing Competitions 2004: Bronze Medals (Mr. Liu, Kan-Ju) in the Men's Epee Team Event.
National University Fencing Competitions 2005
- Silver medal (Mr. Liu, Bing-Xuan) and Bronze medal (Mr. Cai, Zhi-Hong) Men's Epee Individual Event.
- Sliver medal in the Men's Epee Team Event.
- Bronze medal in the Men's Saber Team Event.
