Department of Mechanical Engineering
Our goal is to help students obtain the knowledge of
computer-aided engineering (CAX) and mechatronics to improve their
abilities of mechanical design, manufacturing, integration,
investigation, and management. To meet the needs of national
development and industrial upgrading, students are trained to become
skilled technicians in operation and maintenance. Utilizing existing
industrial equipment and techniques, reinforcing Academy-Industry,
and advocating the importance of re-education will build up the
cooperation between industry and university.
The purpose of this
program is to unite theory and practice so students can acquire the
most modern techniques and knowledge to meet business needs and
reach the goals of technical vocational education.

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

The educational goal of the Department is to cultivate technicians
in the chemical and bio-technical field. Both theories and applied
techniques are emphasized in the learning process. In addition, the
team research project trains students to promote their abilities for
solving problems. The curriculum is designed to fit the need of
industrial development and human power resource in the country and
the worldwide.
The graduates have been opened up brilliant careers in the fields
of biochemistry, food industry, pharmacy, optics, electronic materials,
petroleum chemistry, environmental protection, etc. In the near future,
the Department will get into three more fields: biology techniques,
polymer photo-electric materials, and energy and environmental
protection techniques.

Department of Industrial Engineering and Management
The primary goal of the Department is to cultivate high-level
professional managers with knowledge and techniques in industrial
engineering and management. The departmental courses emphasize
creative thinking, system integration, and practical team studies,
which include automation, computerization, humanization, lean
production, interactive models in manufacturing and business and
decision-making. With this course design, students are able to
integrate all resources. such as manpower, energy, information, etc.,
and to establish an automated working environment combined with
human nature and efficiency for their current and future work.

Department of Eletrical Engineering

The Department is to cultivate students to be competent
engineers who are capable of doing designs, R&D, maintenance,
manufacturing, and management. Future development of the
Department will focus on electronic techniques, control systems, and
power systems. In order to promote our research level, the Department
will also conduct more research projects; for example, Integrated
Circuit Design, Chip Systems and their Application, Optoelectronic
Semiconductor Techniques, Electronic Materials, PC-based Control
Systems, Mechatronic System Design, Power System Quality
Monitoring, Power Electronics and Power Application, etc. In
addition, the Department will offer more cooperative opportunity in
education and provide technical services for local industries or
factories.

Department of Electronic Engineering
development of the Department focuses on system design, flat panel display, and solid-state devices.
System design includes integrated circuit design, computer engineering, and communication system. Flat
panel display and solid-state devices include optoelectronics and semiconductor devices, electronic
measurement, semiconductor manufacture, process simulation, flat panel display, andelectronic/nano-structure material engineering, etc. A series of R&D courses in flat panel display are
developed, and ightly connected to manufacturing industry. With the learning on physics, chemistry, material
science and the integration of theory and practical experience, students can acquire the most modern
technology to meet the requirements for the developmental purposes of the Taichung Science-Based
Industrial Park and other industries.
